LOISABA CONSERVANCY
Loisaba is a 57,000 acre conservancy within Laikipia County that is owned by Loisaba Community Trust, a Kenyan organization that is committed to wildlife and ecological conservation, as well as improving the lives of neighbouring communities.
Loisaba Conservancy is a haven for some of the most iconic and endangered animals in Africa, such as elephants, lions, wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards and Grevy's zebras. The conservancy is part of a vital elephant corridor that connects the Laikipia Plateau with other conservation areas, and supports one of Kenya's largest and most stable lion populations. Tourists can also witness the amazing hunting skills and social behavior of the African wild dogs, which are among the most threatened carnivores in Africa.
The Conservancy has its own dedicated anti-poaching team, which consists of four sniffer dogs and their human handlers. These dogs are trained to track down poachers and protect wildlife.
Loisaba offers a range of activities for visitors to enjoy, such as horseback riding, mountain biking, camel trekking and star gazing. Guests can stay in one of the luxurious lodges or camps, which offer stunning views of the landscape and the wildlife. By visiting Loisaba, tourists support its conservation efforts and its community programs, which include health, education and enterprise initiatives.
