One of the highlights of Mombasa is its Old Town and Fort Jesus, which date back to the 16th century. Old Town is a maze of narrow streets and alleys, lined with ancient buildings and mosques. Visitors can admire the architecture, shop for souvenirs, and taste the local cuisine. Fort Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built by the Portuguese as a defensive fortress.
