SALT LICK SAFARI
OVERVIEW
This is a luxury five day tour of the Tsavo West National Park, home to some of the most iconic and endangered wildlife in Africa, such as elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, and cheetahs. The park is more than just a wildlife destination. It is also a place of history and culture. Guests can explore the remains of the First World War battles that took place here between the British and the Germans, or visit some of the local Maasai villages, and learn about their traditions and culture.
Accommodation is at Salt Lick Safari Lodge, one of Kenya's flagship lodges, famed for being among the World's Most Photographed Lodges. Set in the heart of the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, the lodge is a luxurious safari escape overlooking a waterhole and the vast Tsavo plains. The lodge features spacious, well-appointed double rooms, all elevated on stilts and built across two levels. The elevation allows for the free flow of elephant movement below, who frequently visit the adjacent waterhole to quench their thirst. This creates a scene, where guests can enjoy breathtaking views of large herds of elephant, from the comfort of their room window. Even better views can be experienced in the lodge's common areas, where guests can sit a few metres from groups of wild elephant, enjoying the refreshing waters. Guests can sip cocktails at the Vuria Bar Lounge, with a deck just above the waterhole, or enjoy an excellent range of local and international dishes at the Bura Restaurant.
Transport to and within the national park is by road, in private safari landcruiser 4x4 vehicles, with pop-up roofs for panoramic 360° game viewing. The vehicles are driven by professional driver-guides, with comprehensive knowledge of the reserve and the wildlife within.
This tour is customizable. The number of days can be increased or decreased as per request. Travel to and from the game reserve, can be changed to air travel instead of by road.
