OVERVIEW

This is a luxury five day tour of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, often referred to as The Mara. The wildlife of the Mara is world-renowned, with the so-called Big Five - buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhinoceros - evident throughout the year. The Big Nine - including cheetah, zebra, giraffe and hippo - extend this experience.

The Mara plays host to the Great Migration, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. Once a year, a herd of more than 1.5 million wildebeest cross the Mara River in an epic spectacle that leaves all who witness it in awe.

Situated on a picturesque site on the banks of a river from which it takes its name, accommodation is at the Sand River Masai Mara, an exclusive camp that replicates the heyday of exclusive permanent tented camps of the late 1920's. The interior fixtures and furnishings mirror this period perfectly, reminding all who visit of those countless Hollywood movies that have paid homage to a classic era of African adventure.

Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination, at any time of the year, for those wishing to enjoy exceptional game-viewing. The camp comprises 16-tented accommodations, each divided into two separate but adjoining campsites, with each area possessing its own designated dining and public areas, thereby creating an increased sense of exclusivity and privacy.

Transport to and within the game reserve is by road, in private safari landcruiser 4x4 vehicles, with pop-up roofs for panoramic 360° game viewing. The vehicles are driven by professional driver-guides, with comprehensive knowledge of the reserve and the wildlife within.

This tour is customisable. The number of days can be increased or decreased as per request. Travel to and from the game reserve, can be changed to air travel instead of by road.
